Bungie has said it will remove a hate symbol found on Destiny 2 gauntlets. There’s been no comment on how the symbol ended up being displayed on the Road Complex AA1 guantlets. But there has been an official statement via Twitter.
2/2 Our deepest apologies. This does NOT represent our values, and we are working quickly to correct this. We renounce hate in all forms.

The issue is that the graphics on the arm of the Hunter Road Complex AA1 guantlets appears to mimic the KeK symbol which has been adopted by white nationalists. There’s a description of how it came about from a combination of gaming and 4chan here.
No-one has claimed credit for the fact the symbol managed to appear in the game. There’s obviously a possibility it’s a coincidental design mistake. But it’s extremely similar to the symbols used by the Alt Right, which makes it seem more likely to have been inserted intentionally by someone.
Either way, we’d imagine that Bungie is currently investigating internally, and presumably the work is tracked and logged, so you’d presume that whoever created it may be asked some questions. They’ve already removed it from the shared game world, and it will vanish from inspections and icons in a HotFix planned for next week. A specific patch is quite a big deal, so it shows how seriously it’s being taken.
