There’s been some new content revealed for Overwatch as part of Blizzard’s appearance at Gamescon 2018. And one of the big reveals has been a new location added to the Public Test Realm (PTR). But if you don’t have access, or you’re concentrating on the Summer Games, then you can check out the new Busan Control Map preview video to see what’s on offer.
Appropriately, the actual trailer was first shown at the Korea Fanfest which is also taking place that the moment. Because Busan, South Korea is the setting for the D.Va origin themed map. And an Overwatch origin short anaimation for D.Va has also been released, showing her battling the Omnic threat before joining up with her Overwatch team-mates.
The Busan map is actually split into three themed areas. So as a Control map, you’ll need to capture and hold points in all of them to take victory.
There’s the Sanctuary area with an ancient temple and beautiful gardens. So you get historic architecture and a serene setting with cliffs and waterfalls. That contrasts with the modern bustling Downtown metropolis, including a PC bang (the online gaming cafes popular in Asia), a flasy karaoke bar, and a central light rail station including trains.
Finally you’ll get to visit the MEKA base, home to D.VA and the rest of the squad fighting for South Korea against the gwishin Omnic attacks.

So what do you think? Do you like the look of the new Busan map? Have you played it yet on the PTR? And is it going to keep you playing?
As a D.Va main (alongside some Support heroes), it feels like both the map and origin have been long overdue. After all, D.Va and her mech have remained one of the most popular choices due to her place in the Overwatch meta, and the character links to gaming. And who doesn’t like a mech with massive machine guns and rockets? Plus there’s the prominance of Korean games within eSports and the competitive Overwatch league and community.
