Bungie: There is no MMO!!

Many rumours had been discovered on the internet in that Bungie were working on an FPS MMO called Destiny.

Well, they were just that. Rumours.

Bungie have come clean and said that it was a joke which nobody got.

During the recent Games Development Conference (GDC), lead network engineer David Aldridge showed a slide which many had believed was Bungie’s approach into the massively multiplayer online action game arena. It was used to fuel the already hotly floating news that the ex-Halo developers were working on such title.

A post on Bungie’s blog states that David is a difficult person to figure out, saying people “can’t process him.“. Look’s like David’s joke backfired a fair bit.

However, they didn’t actually deny this rumour, so Bungie could be working on an MMO. That would be interesting.

Rumours: Bungie’s Next Project an MMO FPS?

And so the rumour mill continues, but this time on ex-Halo developers Bungie.

Word on the ‘net is Destiny. Yes, Destiny.

Apparently, it’s the name of Bungie’s next project, so it may be their codename for the game. It’s about time there was a name thrown into the mix as the rumours have been flying around for some time.

The other piece of mystical news is that it’s an MMO… an FPS MMO… a sci-fi world based FPS MMO. Interesting.

As this most definitely won’t be an Xbox exclusive title, Bungie’s project will require a new graphics engine (probably being worked on as I type). Most importantly, it’ll be great to see the well established matchmaking multiplayer system incorporated into a different game.

Details other than those above are a bit sparse.

Let’s hope this isn’t a rumour for much longer. But would an FPS MMO interest you? Or does one need to know more? Comments below.
