Dust 514 is an innovative console-based (PS3 and Xbox 360) MMO FPS which is set within the world of popular MMO EVE. It was originally announced on August 18, 2009, and is the first game to be developed by CCP Games since Eve Online.
The idea behind the game is that players will fight ground wars on planets in the Eve Online universe with their events and battles affecting the Eve Online gamers and corporations, with Dust 514 players able to work as Mercenaries for their Eve Online bosses. And eventually the plan will be to bring the two worlds into a seemless relationship.
It’s been announced that Dust 514 will use the Unreal 3 engine, with a plot likely to be around cloned soliders. In the game itself, players will specialise via the choices they make, and customisable vehicles will be available to all players – and during matches a commander will have an RTS-style perspective. Dust 514 won’t require a subscription, but will use a micro-transaction model.
