It’s time to celebrate in Overwatch, as the new Blizzard World map is now available. And the latest update also includes a rare non-season drop of new skins, emotes, profile icons and more. Which means you don’t have just a couple of weeks to unlock them all, as they’ll be in regular loot crates going forwards.
Having played the Blizzard World map, it’s definitely good fun. And anyone that has enjoyed previous Blizzard games will get very excited about the references to World of Warcraft, Starcraft, Hearthstone and more. Including the Lost & Found Vikings for older fans.
It’s also a bit of a change for the map design, with more emphasis on surround the initial defence point and routes for attackers to flank.
The new player icons are alright, with cute interpretations of each of the 26 current heroes. And they seem to be dropping in loot crates pretty frequently at the moment.
The new sprays follow the same pattern, with child versions of each character available in the same loot crates, with the designs based around the new skins available with Blizzard World.
But we all know it’s about emotes, skins and occasionally highlight intros
Blizzard World Update New Highlight Intros:

Blizzard World Update New Emotes:

Blizzard World Update Epic Skins:
Caution Junkrat
Royal McCree
Hellfire Reaper
Peacock Symmetra
Carbon Fiber Zenyatta
Blizzard World Update Legendary Skins:
Blackhand Doomfist
Black Cat D.Va
Kabuki Hanzo
Asp Pharah
Capoeira Lucio
Antartica: Ecopoint Mei
Immortal Orisa
Crusader Reinhardt
Butcher Roadhog
Magni Torbjorn
Nova Widowmaker
Barbarian Zarya
The skins are pretty cool, with the Epic skins at 250 coins giving you a very nice new look with the Hellfire Reaper and Carbon Fiber Zenyatta. The other three are a bit more underwhelming in my opinion, particularly Symmetra, who only really has the Dragon skin as a standout from last Halloween’s Junkrat’s Revenge event.
In the Legendary pile there are some great skins – Doomfist, Hanzo, Roadhog, Torbjorn, and Zarya are all unqualified greatness. The others are OK, but there’s something strange about seeing both Widowmaker and especially D.Va with blonde hair. In total there are 17 new skins, meaning only 9 heroes miss out. And it’s great to see the newer Doomfist and Orisa both get another skin choice, although Moira has to make do with just an Emote for the time being.
