Either you love it or hate it, but there is no denying the importance of this brand and the vast quantities sold on all major gaming platforms. Any Call of Duty title is (well for most FPS gamers) a must have.
As for a developer, you would snap up any opportunity to get yourself some CoD pie. Okay, recent Activision related news prompts one to refer back to past CoD developers, namely that of Infinity Ward and the hardship they went through. But would you still want in? Yes!
Raven Software, the studio behind classic PC titles Heretic, Hexen and more recently the multi platform Singularity, were rumoured last year to be developing new downloadable content for Black Ops. Now further word on the net is that their untitled Bond game has been scrapped in favour for the next CoD outing.
With a job listing recently appearing on their website for a Lead FX Artist to “drive the development of stunning visual effects for an established console-based, realistic, first-person military shooter,” and being a subsidiary to Activision, this possible CoD project may become a reality.
Either way, is Raven Software man enough to fill these heavy CoD sized boots? Or was their mixed reviewed title Singularity, a sign of what may become of this next highly anticipated instalment? Time will tell.
