First, there was Half-Life, taking two years to develop. Then there was Half-Life 2, taking six years. And then smaller Episodes, which Valve said would help them release playable content at a steady and constant pace. They called it HL3… in instalments… Although all episodic games have been packaged with the HL2 title. Confusing indeed.
Now, three and a bit years since the release of Episode 2, there is still little sign of what should be the third episode. Episode 2 appeared a year and several months after the first, so why is the third taking longer? Are Valve scrapping Episode 3 and focussing on an actual third Half-Life with use of an updated Source engine?!
In a recent phone interview, Chet Falisek from Valve, sidestepped all questions thrown at him regarding the current sparsely mentioned episode, saying “We’re not prepared to talk about that at the moment.”
I’m as eager as you guys are for the next dose of HL goodness… But how much long can you wait?! 14 years like Duke Nukem?!
