Battlefield has gone free. And from my first play earlier on today, it’s not bad for a free game!!
Earlier today, the previous beta version of EA’s Battlefield Play4Free, was updated turning the game into the full free version. There are no cartoony visuals with this game either. Nor does it work like conventional PC games.
The all-out action from other BF titles is here, with as realistic as possible visuals from this browser based FPS multiplayer. Maps from BF2 make a reappearance but with the added joys of classes and weapons from Bad Company 2.
You begin by creating an EA account then a name for your solider. Once a name has been decided, you can customise the solider to match your appearance, or there abouts. And make micro-transactions to buy weapon upgrades or special ability items.
All in all, not bad for a free game.
I played for ten minutes earlier and rather enjoyed it. My browser of choice was Google’s Chrome, to which worked a dream, apart from times it seemed as thought I lagged and ended up dead. However, it’s pretty amazing seeing your browser render visuals similar to that of BF2 and not like Minecraft.
