It appears that there may be a third map pack due to be released for Call of Duty: Black Ops. Having seen a branch of GAME inadvertently reveal details of the Escalation map pack in promotional material, this time it’s Gamestop’s turn (Is anyone suspicious that all major retailers get a go at leaking CoD promo material?)
Featured in the leaked image below are the maps Hangar 18, Hazard, Drive-In and Silo, plus a mention of ‘Zombies’ with no map name. An earlier patch for the game was reported to include the Silo name, which lends weight to the idea that this is a legitimate leak, as does as early mention of a Zombie Temple, possibly named Temple of Doom. Looking at the image more closely in image editing software, it does seem as if the zombies are posing in front of a temple…

And the name of the pack? A number of people have uploaded videos to Youtube claiming that when downloading the Escalation map pack, they discovered the name ‘Retaliation’. Again, there’s no official confirmation or denial as yet.
So the question probably isn’t whether any of this is legitimate – it’s whether you fancy a third map pack, and if you’re excited about it and willing to pay when Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3 are close on the horizon? Previous release dates would suggest July for the Retaliation Map Pack, and the fact that promo material has been apparently printed up means it’s likely to be soon…
