Xbox Live Gold subscribers can pick up three great FPS games this week for just £4.99 each in the various sales and offers currently running.
The games are Gotham City Impostors (As part of the Warner Bros Sale), plus Call of Juarez: Gunslinger and Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon in the usual Special Offers available.
Gotham City Impostors:
We gave 7/10 to Gotham City Impostors in our review a while ago – the game features groups of amateur vigilantes and villains attempting to emulate Batman and the Joker as they do battle in the normal game types for an FPS (Deathmatch, CTF etc), with some slight twists.
Both teams get a variety of weapons, upgrades and tools including grapple guns for getting around maps quickly, and although the location list is relatively small if it was a full-price game, they’re atmospheric enough to be entertaining for a downloadable effort.
Graphically, it has aged a wee bit since release back in February 2012, but it’s a good fun break from your standard Battlefield and Call of Duty experience. If you’re not at an Xbox, you can get it via the Xbox.com marketplace here.
Call of Juarez: Gunslinger:
Call of Juarez: Gunslinger is a much more recent downloadable game from May 2013, and one we’ve had on our list to try. It’s a Western based shooter which follows a narrated tale following bounty hunter Silas Greaves. Developed by Techland and published by Ubisoft, you can go for Story mode, Arcade or Duel to make your way through the story.
In addition the quick time bullet dodging, bullet time and gun-slinging duels, one very interesting element is that the narration is taking place in a Kansas bar in 1910, and Silas is a pretty unreliable story teller, which means occasionally he changes the tales when the others in the bar challenge him – that results in abrupt changes within the game environment, such as an Apache army suddenly appearing and disappearing, which gives it a unique flavour. Well worth checking out, and it’s on Xbox.com here, saving you £5 on the normal £9.99 price.
Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon:
Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is a stand-alone expansion to Far Cry 3, and is a take on 1980s- action films in a retro future featuring cyborg soldier Rex Colt, voiced by action film legend Micheal Biehn. It features a retro soundtrack, digital box art, and a plot involving a battle between American and Russian cyborg super soldiers with hidden collectibles and a range of weapons, explosives and a large knife.
Again, it’s a recent Ubisoft published game, originally released in May 2013, but has already sold 1 million copies digitally across Xbox Live, Windows, and Playstation Network. Fancy a trip to a 1980’s-inspired 2007 for 50% off the normal price? Check it out on Xbox.com.
