Call of Duty Ghosts: Free Multiplayer weekend and new Character Packs leaked

Call of Duty Ghosts will offer a free multiplayer weekend with access to Team Deathmatch and Domination on Strike Zone, Warhawk and Prison Break, Extinction mode, and the option to buy the full digital download of the game at a discounted price. The news comes via leaked documents shared on PasteBin and then shared with IGN.

That free weekend will begin on Friday March 7th. There’s also mention of a free Onslaught DLC trial weekend which will begin on March 21, including all four new maps, Maverick weapons and the first episode of Extinction:Nightfall.

In addition the demo text includes a promotion of the Call of Duty Ghosts Season Pass with the Team Leader Digital Pack and ‘early access to The Ripper’.

Leaked Legend Pack Characters?

Also included in the leak were details of new characters which are claimed to be released on March 4th, 2014. They are:

Call-Of-Duty-Ghosts Makarov

• Legend Pack – Makarov
  Play as Vladimir Makarov, one of the most ruthless villains in Call of Duty® history. This Pack contains a Makarov Multiplayer Character and unique Personalization Pack featuring a themed weapon camo, reticle, patch, playercard and background.

Call of Duty Ghosts Rorke

• Character – Rorke
  Play as Rorke, the former leader turned nemesis of the Ghosts. Take control of this battle-scared villain in Multiplayer.

Call of Duty Ghosts Hazmat

• Character – Hazmat
  Though it won’t protect from a hailstorm of bullets and shrapnel, the all-new Hazmat Suit ensures you will stand out from the crowd in any Multiplayer match.

• Character – Zakhaev
  Zakhaev is one of the most dangerous villains in Call of Duty® lore. Play as this insane revolutionary in Multiplayer.

The images shared in the leaked document are all hosted via Xbox.com, suggesting that it may well be a legitimate source. There’s been no confirmation from Activision, and no details whether the free trials will be available on all platforms, or just Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

It certainly seems viable for the new micro transaction character packs following the recent release of the Captain Price Legends Pack and character packs for Keegan, Merrick, Elias and Hesh. That would suggest that Makarov will be priced at $3.99 while the others will be $1.99 – the difference being made by the addition of weapon camo, player patch, player card, reticle and background for the ‘Legends’.
