There’s never been a better time for PC owners to stock up on classic FPS games, and that continues with GOG offering three shooters on sale until Tuesday, June 30, 2015.
First up is Aliens versus Predator Classic 2000. For just £1.19, you save on the regular price of £3.99 for the game. Originally released in 2000, the Rebellion developed and published game has been updated to run on modern PCs and includes Xbox 360 controller support as you pick to fight as a Colonial Marine, Predator or Alien. And there’s cross-play support for multiplayer, so GOG.com and Steam players can battle each other. Plus 3 single player campaigns – one for each species. Also includes the levels from the Millennium Expansion pack.
Sadly in space, no-one can stop people quoting Hicks over, and over, and over.
If you prefer comic book inspiration to the movies, then for the same price of £1.19, you can also experience Judge Dredd: Dredd vs Death.
Another Rebellion production, this came along in 2005 to give you a chance to experience Mega-City One.
One thing to note is that the game’s multiplayer servers are no longer online, so the only multiplayer option available is via LAN. So no multiplayer unless you have a number of PCs in the same room – office lunchtime Dredd sessions?
And lastly out of this collection of shooter savings, is the mix of third person and sniping that is Sniper Elite: Berlin 1945. Although a lot of the game involves traveling around locations in third person to find the perfect spot, there’s enough time spent peering down a gun sight for us to include the Sniper Elite series on the site.
The plot involves taking out German scientists at the end of WW2 before the Russians can get their hands on them. Which also became Sniper Elite: V2 for consoles. But this 2005 version can be yours for just £1.99.
Again, the multiplayer servers have now been switched off, so LAN is the only option.
So three classic shooters for a total of £4.37. Not bad – and Aliens vs Predator Classic 2000 offers some multiplayer action, even if the others are single-player and LAN only. There’s actually a total of 22 games currently on sale, so check out the full list if you fancy something other than a shooter.
