For developers and publishers, when a highly anticipated game is leaked online, there isn’t enough hair on ones head to rip off nor are there enough obscenities in the world.
Sony’s PlayStation exclusive Killzone 3, developed by Guerrilla Games, has been found online on torrent sites. It’s not an ideal situation to be in when it’s your flagship FPS brand, yet some good news can be seen from this as only hacked units can play this pirated version of the game.
Two pirated Killzone 3 versions have been found, both appear to be finished European copies approaching 42GB in size with one being a 3D copy. There were only 11 days left until its official release.
Don’t forget, only recently was it announced that Sony’s PlayStation 3 had its security cracked by a 21 year old. Not the best start for Sony in 2011.
Only a few days earlier, 11th February, had Crytek been alerted to an incomplete build of Crysis 2 being available on the net too. Both EA and Crytek are “deeply disappointed” by this early release as there is yet another month to go before the game finally hits the shops.
They also try to encourage fans to support the development team and the brand by going out to by genuine copies of the game, which is out on the 22nd March.
There is no mention of which version has been leaked, however Crytek assumes it’s the PC build, and it wouldn’t be the first time that PC games have been out before they actually should be.
I for one will definitely be buying a copy of this game. Are you?! Or are games getting too expensive to purchase?
