Battlefield 3: Which version will be better?!

June 21, 2011 By Kalps Mistry Leave a Comment

When it comes to beautiful looking visuals in a video game, I have a PC to boast about to play them on. However it’s hard to ignore the vast majority of gamers who game on consoles who also want to play in this beauty.

So when the first trailer of Battlefield 3’s gameplay was released, did you think what I thought? This title is jaw-droppingly realistic is it not? Then, did you think which system will display the game it all its glory? I know you all know the answer to that… It’s the PC.

Executive producer Patrick Bach, had stated last week that their ‘goal is to create a game that works equally on all platforms‘ with an engine designed to perform smoothly on the PS3 and Xbox 360 as well as the PC. From that, Bach assumes consumers ‘will not see any big differences between the versions‘. If you were then told the game will run equally the same on consoles as it would on the PC, would you raise an eyebrow?

To me, that sounds like the PC version is going to be dubbed down.

Since we were introduced to the latest batch of consoles, it has been hard for developers to pass up developing versions of their titles on them. It’s easier because they contain non-replaceable components, meaning a common ground for them to work on now and in the next few years, and have the visual capabilities similar to that of PCs. But the consequence of this is that one version has to suffer and it’s usually the PC version.

What do you guys think? Is it possible to have all three major versions looking stunning? Leave your thoughts below.
