As part of the celebrations for the Overwatch Anniversary Event 2018, Blizzard ran a competition for fans to send in pictures of their own baking efforts with random winners selected to receive some game-related goodies. And the recent Trace and Bake stop motion video also featured Tracer creating an anniversary cake. Now Blizzard has also released a video explaining how to make an Overwatch Anniversary drip cake if you’ve been inspired to get cooking.
And it looks pretty cool, and tasty.
So what do you need?
Overwatch Anniversary Drip Cake Ingredients:
- Water: 3 and 1/2 Cups
- Cocoa Power: 3 and 1/2 Cups
- Milk: 3 Cups
- Apple Cider Vinegar: 1/2 Cup
- Eggs: 6
- Oil: 2 1/2 Cups
- Vanilla Extract: 2 TBSP
- All-Purpose Flour: 6 and 1/2 Cups
- Sugar: 5 and 3/4 Cups
- Salt: 1 TBSP and 1TSP
- Baking Soda: 2 TBSP
- Butterceam Frosting (Icing)
- White Chocolate 3 Cups
- Scalded Heavy Cream: 2 1/4 Cups
- Food Dye
- Fondant
- Rock Candy
Obviously in addition to the ingredients, you’ll also need to mix bits together, bake, cut bits into slices, ice between each layer, and put in a bit of time getting it exactly right. If I’m doing it, there’s about as much chance of a amazing Overwatch Anniversary Cake as there is of convicing 6 random players to co-ordinate to get through the choke point at Point A on Hanamura successfully. But I’m neither a baker or a Diamond League Overwatch player, so you might have more skills or luck. And even an unnattractive cake is still good to eat.
Worth saving the video and details for your next celebration, or for treating your Overwatch team-mates. And the resulting sugar rush should get you through escorting the payload for quite a few hours of game time. Although it’s probably not on the recommended list of food for professional esports athletes in the Overwatch League!
The Overwatch Anniversary Event 2018 ends on June 11th, so there’s not long left to grab the new skins and cosmetics, plus those from all previous seasonal events. So you better get done with the baking pretty quickly to get back to the game!
