Original Crysis Coming Soon to Consoles

September 10, 2011 By Kalps Mistry Leave a Comment

Crytek and EA, the masterminds behind Crysis 2, are to release the PC only Crysis on both Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network.

Back in 2007, Crysis changed the game. The title introduced a whole new level of visually stunning and jaw-dropping graphics, and mixed it all with one mighty fine single player campaign. It brought in a new era of supreme quality and polish to PC games. Being a Half-Life fan, it was hard to avoid the impact this title was going to have.

PC gamers who wished to play this title in all its beauty had to get the best graphics cards, running them in ATi’s Crossfire or nVidia’s SLi configuration, and not forgetting over-clockable processors. To play the game, you had to have THE BEST computer to play it on, otherwise it just wasn’t worth owning. Yup, I’ll admit I did the same… Slightly on the cheaper side though.

However, those that didn’t upgrade their PCs or were only stuck with consoles to game on, they would have missed out. But that is all about to change.

The console version of Crysis will be remastered utilising Cryteks’ latest game engine, CryEngine 3, optimising the visuals and lighting effects to name but a few tweaks.

When the announcement was made, Crytek’s CEO, Cevat Yerli said, “We are extremely proud of what we were able to accomplish with Crysis. We set out to create a next-generation FPS and delivered a PC experience that became a benchmark for quality – and still is for many gamers even four years later.” He then continued saying, “By bringing the single-player campaign to console, we believe we are again setting a new standard for quality in downloadable gaming.”

The remastered Crysis will be available next month. Currently stated as being downloadable on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, costing 1600 Microsoft Points or $19.99 on PSN. Thats £15.99 in the UK. A disced version has not been mentioned, whether there is to be one or not.

Never played the game? Want to play it? I do highly recommend it… So, are you willing to splash out on a four year old game changer?! Leave your thoughts below.
